The BYTE 4/23/2021

Bringing you the latest tech and marketing trends.

Welcome to the BYTE, where we serve up the latest marketing and tech news from the last week for you to sink your teeth into.

This week we’re taking a BYTE out of the hamster wheel of content, graphic design tips, Facebook’s Business Suite, animated infographics, and Google’s Easter eggs. Dig in!

Generally

Are you going around and around on the hamster wheel of content?

The never-ending cycle of producing content can feel like spinning on a hamster wheel to marketers - developing new content, writing content, publishing content, and then starting the process all over again. This mentality stems from the old-school thought that everything needs to be 100% original every single time.

But today, there’s a different mindset – let consumers drive content demand. The reality is most of your audience hasn’t seen your content and if they have, they probably don’t remember it. If old content is deemed valuable by your audience, then, by all means, recycle and republish to your heart's content!

Take Note

Does utilizing these three tips make you a graphic designer?

We wouldn’t say change your career to graphic design, but it doesn’t hurt to brush up on a quick 101 on design. One essential graphic design tip - white space is your friend. Take a less-is-more approach and remove elements that don’t add value. White space in design attracts the audience’s eye to the graphical elements exactly where you want them to land. Check out more about this and two other design tips in this article.

How can businesses take advantage of Facebook’s Business Suite?

Facebook launched Business Suite last September with the goal for the program to be a one-stop solution to schedule, manage, and publish posts for businesses on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram. Business Suite schedules social media and provides insights for Instagram and Facebook on how well a company’s social media is performing. Their latest upgrade gives businesses the opportunity to schedule stories on Instagram and Facebook in advance and the ability to edit their scheduled regular posts. According to Facebook, “2 out of 3 surveyed users said Business Suite helped them connect with more customers.”

Why should you add animated infographics to your marketing playbook?

Most marketers know that video is engaging and holds the attention of viewers longer than other static content. So when it comes to an ordinary infographic versus an animated infographic, it’s a no-brainer that the moving graphic is more likely to capture your audience’s attention. An animated infographic uses a form of motion on a graphic, whether a video, GIF or an interactive landing page. Infographics already drive results with qualitative and quantitative information, so adding motion opens new avenues of perception and understanding. This type of content works best on social media and will hopefully amuse the audience enough to share your content. If you haven’t already, you should think about adding this tool to your marketing plan.
